    Jasper Kim JD/MBA Founder and CEO

    Positions: Jasper Kim is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Asia-Pacific Global Research Group. He is also a Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies, Ewha University (Seoul, Korea), Senior Fellow at Melbourne Law School, Lecturer-in-Law at the University of California, Berkeley (Berkeley Law), and Of Counsel for Kim & Kim Law Offices.

    Credentials: Jasper Kim’s main areas of expertise include cross-cultural and cross-border business, law, social finance, and negotiation strategy issues. He is a US-qualified lawyer, and the author of over a hundred academic articles, chapter contributions, and short written works, as well as being author/editor of eight published books. Prior to Asia-Pacific Global Research Group, he worked for the global investment banks of Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital in Asia. As an in-house legal counsel for Lehman Brothers, Mr. Kim helped oversee the fixed income division’s derivatives and loan trading desks on the trading floor, negotiating and dealing with clients in Asia and beyond on multi-million dollar deals and transactions. As an Associate Director for Barclays Capital, he was part of the firm’s structured trading desk for the Firm’s investment banking division negotiating with clients and competitors related to transactions in the Asia-Pacific region.

  • JaeHo Hwang, PhD Diplomacy / Security

    Positions: Chair, Institute for International Development Department, Graduate School of International and Area Studies / Vice Director, Center for Cooperation and Strategy, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul, Korea). Former Research Fellow for the Center of Security and Strategy, Korea Institute of Defense Analysis (Korea Ministry of Defense).

    Credentials: Research focus centers on security and foreign policy, as well as political and security issues in South Korea and Northeast Asia. He has contributed to major journals such as Issues and Studies, Korean Journal for Defense Analysis, Korea and World Affairs, Information Technologies and International Development, and Security Dialogue. Consults with government officials in South Korea, China and Taiwan regarding security and geopolitical issues in the region. He is fluent in Mandarin, Korean and English.

    Daniel Hersson-Ringskog, MSc Economics / Financial Markets

    Positions: COO and Founding Partner, QDF Corporation (Toronto, Canada). Former Executive Director for Nomura and Lehman Brothers; Director for Morgan Stanley; and Associate for Merrill Lynch, (London, UK).

    Credentials: Responsibilities for managing European commodity trading business, risk pricing, execution and analytics/infrastructure development. Extensive experience in trading commodity, FX, emerging market, credit and interest-rate products. Currently involved in providing inventory financing for dealers with relatively high turnover goods.

    Michael Son-U Paik, JD/MBA Legal / Regulatory

    Positions: Partner, Hanol Law Offices (Seoul, Korea). Former Associate, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati (Palo Alto, California). Former Corporate Practice Associate, Cahill Gordon & Reindel (New York, NY).

    Credentials: Michael has twenty years of professional experience in consulting and law practice. He has served as consultant or counsel for some of Korea’s most prominent companies, and has assisted Korean, European and US clients in venture capital, public offering, and merger transactions valued in the billions of dollars. Michael has also represented numerous start-up companies, as well as leading venture capital, private equity and investment banking firms. As part of his practice at Hanol Law Offices, Michael served in various client management positions, including as General Counsel of Hankook Tire Company, Ltd. and the STX Group. His clients have included VISA, LG Electronics, and Samsung Electronics, to name a few. From 2004, Michael has been teaching corporate law and technology transactions as a professor at Yonsei University’s College of Law, The Republic of Korea’s Judicial Research & Training Institute and Seoul National University’s College of Engineering, where he has also served as Director of Technology Incubation and Chief Technology Officer for the university’s research and development foundation. He also holds a Distinguished Chair at Inje University, and has been guest lecturer on venture capital and business law issues at Ewha University, Columbia University and the National University of Singapore. From 2002, Michael has served in various public positions, including as an elected member representing Silicon Valley to the board of directors for the California Young Lawyers’ Association, and legal advisor to the Korean Venture Capital Association, the Korean Nurses’ Association and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority. He is also Trustee and General Counsel at the Inje Foundation, Korea’s oldest privately endowed foundation and holding entity for five general hospitals and Inje University. He is licensed to practice law in New York and California.

    Stephen Van Vlack, PhDLinguistics / Communication

    Positions: Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics, Sookmyung Women’s University (Seoul, Korea). Former faculty of Eberhard Karls Universität-Tübingen in Germany.

    Credentials: Stephen’s research focuses on the implications of linguistic theory on learning theories and teaching practices in multilingual contexts focusing on cognitive and neurological underpinnings from a comparative perspective. His current research areas lie in reconciling theories and approaches from various fields of study related to language with actual practices in language teaching, known as Implicational Linguistics. He has written several articles and publications on this subject.

    Jon Wuebben, MBAMarketing / Digital Media / Autos

    Positions: CEO of Content Launch, a web content development and strategy firm that provides content for hundreds of companies, digital agencies, web designers and others around the world. Former marketing team member for Kia Motors America and Ford Motor Company.

    Credentials: Author of Content is Currency: Developing Powerful Content for Web & Mobile (2012) and Content Rich: Writing Your Way to Wealth on the Web (2008). Jon has spoken on the topics of Content Marketing, Content Development, Web Copywriting, Social Media and Web 2.0 at the Online Marketing Summit, New Media Expo, Shop.org Annual Conference, Media Relations Summit and for a number of business groups, associations and large corporations. He also worked for Senator John McCain of Arizona, Vice President Dan Quayle and the Republican National Convention in 1996.

    Ronald H. Medak, MDMedical Technologies

    Positions: Independent Researcher. Former Clinical Studies Lead Researcher for multiple pharmaceutical studies of pain and perioperative drugs, Tri-City Medical Center.

    Credentials: Private Practice Anesthesiology and Pain Management: Tri-City Medical Center, as well as for Goleta Valley and St. Francis Hospitals.
